Shops
Shops are places where you can buy items to be used within levels using coins. With the exception of 8-0-1 and 8-0-3, shops appear in every story level in the game, including those of the side stories. In-level shops can be entered twice before they shut down and can no longer be entered, this includes entering and leaving without purchasing anything. There are also vortex shops, which appear before an arena in arena modes where you can again buy items and/or use powerups. Here you'll find the inventory of every shop and every vortex shop in the game along with the mechanisms behind the prices of items.
Calculating item prices
Every item that you can purchase at a shop has a base price in coins, which is then scaled by a factor dependent on the shop you're in.

In general, the price of an item offered at a shop is the base price of the item multiplied by the shop's price modifier. For example, the the shop in section 2 of 8-3-1 on normal mode offers a knife which has a base price of 50, and the price modifier for this shop is 2 in normal mode, thus the price of the knife in this shop is 50*2 = 100 coins, meanwhile the shop in section 1 of 8-1-3 in hard mode which also sells knives, has a price modifier in hard mode of 4, so the price of the knife in this shop is 50*4 = 200 coins.
Shop inventory
There are 3 key differences between in-level shops and vortex shops. The first is that vortex shops can allow you to select powerups alongside purchasing a healing item or weapon, going as far as to allow you to purchase a powerup alongside a healing item or weapon if you have none of that type of powerup in your inventory. As such, vortex shops are unique in being able to sell powerups, though on gems split it is not possible to buy powerups, as if you have 0 of a type of powerup it will simply be grayed out and display a white 0 where the price would be. The second is that vortex shops have a random inventory, always picking a random healing item for the left slot and a random weapon for the right slot, meanwhile in-level shops have a set inventory and so will be the same no matter how many times you visit. The third is that vortex shops will never offer revival potions, meanwhile most in-level shops offer revival potions if you've lost one (though there are some exceptions). This last difference is more minor, since in versions 1.4.46 and above revival potions will not appear anywhere as items within a level unless you have premium.
In-level shops
Shops in levels offer 2-4 unique items. "Left slot" refers to the healing item available in the left slot of the shop screen, and can be an apple, a drumstick, a chicken or a heart. This is always available in every shop. If the shop offers a revival potion, then this will replace the healing item in the left slot if you do not have a revival potion (if you are playing on 1.4.46 or higher, you will need premium for the revival potion to appear). If you are at full health with a revival potion, or if you are at full health without a potion and the shop does not offer a revival potion/you do not have premium, then the left slot will display a grayed out healing item, though its price will still be visible. "Right slot weapon 1" refers to the weapon that appears in the right slot of the shop screen when you have no weapons on you. This is always available in every shop, though some shops will also offer a second weapon, "right slot weapon 2", which appears when you have full ammo of the first weapon offered in the shop. If you have full ammo of the first weapon offered and the shop does not offer a second weapon, or if you have full ammo of both weapons offered at the shop, the right slot will be grayed out and will display the first weapon with its price still visible. If you are playing on 1.4.46 or higher and do not have premium, then the right slot will not show a price and in its place will be "AD" in green text, clicking on this will play a reward ad and then give the item in the right slot if the ad plays through to the end.
Each in-level shop has 2 possible price modifiers depending on whether the level it is found in was loaded in a normal difficulty campaign or a hard difficulty campaign. If a level is loaded in a normal difficulty campaign, such as prologue, normal story mode and fright zone, then the price mutliplier of every shop in this level is the one shown in the "Price modifier" column. If a level is loaded in a hard difficulty campaign, such as hard story mode and frosty plains, then the price modifier is instead the one shown in the "Price multplier (hard)" column.

Vortex shops
Vortex shops offer a random healing item in the left slot and a random weapon item in the right slot, so it is impossible to predict exactly what will be sold at a given vortex shop until you enter it. However, the price modifiers are always the same every time you enter a given vortex shop: for example, the price modifier of Deeper Wells on normal difficulty is always 2. If you are playing on 1.4.46 or higher after opening the game with internet connection and do not have premium, a random one of the two slots will have its price replaced with watching a reward ad. Additionally, some vortex shops do not allow you to purchase a weapon or use a certain powerup, at which point the corresponding slot will be grayed out, with the right slot not showing a price when grayed out.
In the gems split, having internet connection and not having premium will make vortex shops preceding the first arena of an arena chain will have only one slot offering a random weapon for a reward ad. Interestingly, despite the gems split making it so that you have no coins when entering a level, opening the game with internet turned off will have all items available in a vortex shop be paid with coins, including those in the vortex shop preceding the first arena of an arena chain. This also has the side effect of changing all price modifiers in Battle Tower to 1, up until internet is turned on at which point the price modifiers will return to normal and vortex shops preceding the first arena of an arena chain will only have 1 slot offering a weapon for an ad.
